CoachLink replaces the 200-text scramble of finding a fighter with a matching engine that does the work for you. Every Card Builder slot, inquiry, and short-notice replacement runs through the same two-stage pipeline — cutting unsafe pairings before you see them, then ranking the rest by who's actually right for your card.

Stage 01 — Hard Gates
Bad fights die before you see them
Eleven safety, eligibility, and business rules run on every candidate before scoring. Fail one, you're out. No partial credit, no bad pairings on your screen.
Gate 01
Open to Fight
Fighter must have the "open to fight" flag active and a verified, linked account. Inactive or paused fighters never surface as candidates.
Gate 02
Sport / Discipline
Fighter's primary or secondary combat sport must match the bout slot's sport (MMA, boxing, kickboxing, BJJ, etc.). Cross-sport pairings are blocked.
Gate 03
Gender
When the bout slot specifies a gender, the fighter's gender must match. Cross-gender pairings are never auto-suggested.
Gate 04
Pro / Amateur
A pro slot only matches pro fighters; an amateur slot only matches amateurs. Mixed-level bouts must be created manually.
Gate 05
Weight Class
Fighter's division must be within two standard weight classes of the slot. Catchweight and Open Weight slots skip this check.
Gate 06
Record Requirements
Wins, losses, and total fights must satisfy your slot's min-wins / max-losses / min-fights / max-fights bounds.
Gate 07
Active Suspension
Fighter has a current commission or medical suspension covering the event date. Even a single-day overlap is a hard block.
Gate 08
Post-KO Rest
Fighter took a recent KO or TKO and is still inside the regulator-mandated minimum rest window before the event date.
Gate 09
Camp Conflict
Fighter is locked into another bout's training camp whose schedule conflicts with this event date.
Gate 10
Same Primary Coach
Both candidates share the same primary coach. The platform never matches a coach's fighters against each other.
Gate 11
Same Gym
Both candidates train at the same gym. Blocked unless you, the matchmaker, explicitly override.
Advisory
License validity is flagged as a warning, not a hard block. If a fighter's license is missing or expired, the candidate still surfaces — clearly marked — so you can resolve it before the bout is finalized.
Stage 02 — Match Score
A score for every candidate. Every time.
Survivors get a 0–100 composite score across seven factors, so you spend zero time wondering "is this fighter the right call?" The numbers are right there.
Weight Match
30%
Exact class scores 30. Within ~10 lb scores 20, within ~20 lb scores 10. Further apart scores zero.
Sport Match
20%
Already enforced as Gate 02, so every candidate that reaches scoring earns the full 20 points.
Pro / Am Level
15%
Also gated earlier. Surviving candidates earn the full 15 points for matching the slot's competitive level.
Record Balance
15%
How closely the fighter's total fights matches the slot's experience target. Identical experience scores 15; large gaps score lower.
Availability
15%
Up to 8 pts for "open to fight" signal, plus up to 7 pts for availability blocks against the event date. Confirmed availability scores highest.
Regional Draw
10%
Same-city ticket history scores 10, same-state 7, prior sales elsewhere 3, no history scores zero.
Contract Obligation
+25
Fighters with an active multi-fight contract that still has fights remaining with you receive a +25 bonus and float to the top — protecting the deals you've already signed.
// How the score is built
1
Each factor scores within its weighted band — the six factors above sum to a 0–100 base score.
2
Candidates with an open contract obligation receive a +25 bonus and sort to the top, ahead of higher-scoring non-obligated fighters.
3
Within each tier, fighters are ranked by composite score. You see the full per-factor breakdown — and you can always override.
Roadmap — Coming Soon
The engine keeps getting smarter
Several advanced scoring inputs — style contrast, ring rust, age, height/reach, and finishing-rate balance — are already live in the inquiry-pairing engine and rolling into Card Builder next. Per-promotion tuning and analytics ship after that — your card-building gets sharper without any work on your end.
In Progress
Style-Contrast Scoring
Striker-vs-grappler matchups score higher than two decision-heavy fighters. Already live in the inquiry-pairing engine — surfacing in Card Builder next.
In Progress
Ring-Rust Scoring
Penalize candidates whose last bout is over a year out, surfacing fresher fighters higher in the suggestion list. Already live in the inquiry-pairing engine — surfacing in Card Builder next.
Planned
Per-Promotion Tuning
Self-serve settings to relax optional gates (e.g., allow same-gym for in-house cards), tune weight bands, and override the default factor weights for your organization.
Planned
Match Quality Analytics
See how every fight on your past cards scored at booking, how it played out, and where the engine got it right or wrong — tightening every future card.
